Volunteer gives in many ways

Volunteer Ken sees wish kid Levi and family off at the airport.

“ I included Make-A-Wish in my will because as a volunteer, I see how important wishes are to children and families. ”

- Ken Kieffer, volunteer and Legacy of Wishes member

Ken Kieffer is so dedicated to Make-A-Wish that since 1997, he has volunteered to help more than 300 children receive their wishes. Even a serious heart operation in 2013 couldn’t stop him.

“I wanted to get back to volunteering right away,” says Ken. “I couldn’t drive so I got my son to drive me to a wish family’s house.”

Ken refuses reimbursement for expenses he incurs during his volunteering and gives his time to more than 30 nonprofit organizations.

Despite giving in multiple ways, the retired attorney felt he could do one thing more and included Make-A-Wish in his will. “As a volunteer, I experience the mission and have seen how important wishes are to children and families,” he says.

If you would like to include Make-A-Wish in your trust, will, life insurance or retirement plan, contact 800.304.9474.

Ken Kieffer and his family celebrate his National Make-A-Wish Volunteer of the Year award.
