Like most kids her age, four-year-old Sylvia loves exploring the outdoors, looking for creatures while enjoying the warmth of the sun on her face. But, her grand adventures were put on hold when she was diagnosed with cancer.
Instead of romping around outdoors, she soon found herself navigating the hallways of the hospital. Spending months at a time in the hospital undergoing treatment, Sylvia passed the time watching what soon became one of her favorite shows: the "Wild Kratts," a cartoon featuring two brothers who save animals in danger. This young animal lover has a passion for critters and also developed a small crush on one of the brothers. When asked to make her wish, she chose to meet the stars of the show.
“I was surprised (and relieved) at the amount of detail and help that everybody at Make-A-Wish® put into our wish experience,” said her mom, Heather. “From our front door outward, everything was taken care of.”
Sylvia and her family travelled to Canada to visit the studio where the show is animated. While there, they enjoyed a studio tour, a game of hide and seek and an outdoor adventure guided by her crush, Martin.
Although Sylvia’s wish to meet the brothers came true, according to Heather, the best part about the entire Make-A-Wish experience was the opportunity to spend time together as a family outside of hospitals and doctors’ offices.
