We did it! Thanks to more than 750 members of the community, our first-ever virtual Wish Night® was a success. Due to COVID-19, the in-person event became a virtual celebration featuring stories of hope and resilience, including Ainsley’s wish to have an accessible backyard space.
As her dad Kato shared, one of Ainsley’s favorite things is the feeling of the wind on her face. When her life-threatening genetic condition took a more aggressive hold, even trips to swing at the local park became impossible. That’s why Ainsley’s family wished to bring the park to her; they wanted to give her a place she could safely swing.
“Ainsley’s garden park became a place where we could literally see, smell and touch the love as it grew up around us,” Kato said. “Our lives are simply better because Make-A-Wish cared to give a little girl and her family a way to be outside together; they brought the park to us.”
While the funds raised at the event will go a long way in transforming more lives like Ainsley’s, there is still much work to be done. Wish kids are counting on you. More than 135 local wishes have been postponed, and that number will continue to rise. You can still help Fund-A-Wish by donating to ensure our wish kids aren’t waiting longer than necessary.
Did you miss the program? You can still view it on Facebook and YouTube!
Save the date for next year! Wish Night Gala & Auction will be on March 20, 2021 at The Westin.
