Six-year-old Lev was diagnosed with leukemia at just two and a half. Last year, before he was supposed to finish treatment once and for all, his family received a devastating phone call—Lev's cancer was back. So, Lev spent the last year undergoing intensive treatments and surgeries to help save his life.
Before Lev’s diagnosis, he and his family traveled to Kauai. This trip was a bright spot in his life—Lev’s memories of chasing wild chickens, crashing waves and building sandcastles are ones he never forgot. Kauai was a place untouched by Lev’s cancer. A place without chemotherapy, radiation or surgeries.
So, more than four years later, Lev made a wish to go back. This holiday season, he and his family flew to Kauai to chase chickens again. Thanks to generous donations of airline miles, Lev and his family made memories to last a lifetime.
“For Lev, this trip made up for all the experiences of childhood he missed for the last three and a half years," said his mom, Irina. "It was a fairytale for him."
