This year, more than 250 children battling life-threatening medical conditions waved goodbye to hospital beds and doctor's appointments. One by one, those children prepared for take-off. They watched the cities beneath them grow smaller and smaller as they soared to Hawaii, Australia, Germany, Japan ... and wherever else their hearts told them to go.
On August 1st, Make-A-Wish Washington partnered with KOMO 4 News to raise airline miles to help grant the travel wishes to more children in Alaska and Washington awaiting their wishes.
With the support of this community, we surpassed our goal of 5,000,000 airline miles and together raised an incredible 10,364,084 miles.
This equates to about 259 tickets and an approximate cost savings of about $130,000!
Thanks to your generous support, we can continue to grant the wishes to local children who say the life-changing words: "I wish to go..."
