Five-year-old Landon from Pasco is counting down the days until his wish trip to Disneyland®. Earlier this year, Landon was diagnosed with a life-threatening intestinal condition and given a five to ten percent chance of survival. At the time, Landon’s father promised him a trip to Disneyland. Today, Landon has beaten the odds and excited to celebrate his 6th birthday, which falls on Halloween, at Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland, thanks to Make-A-Wish® Washington.
Landon’s two siblings, father, Dave, and his mother Sandy, who is battling a rare and terminal disease of the central nervous system, will celebrate with a send-off party at their house this Saturday before their October 28th flight to California.
Landon’s home: 9607 Mustang Drive, Pasco 99301
Saturday, October 20th
- 1 p.m. Landon’s wish celebration begins with pizza and his favorite treats.
- 1:30 p.m. Landon and his twin brother are presented with costumes inspired by his favorite science fiction movie. More characters arrive and a duel of galactic proportions ensues.
About Make-A-Wish Washington:
Since our inception, Make-A-Wish Washington has granted nearly 900 wishes to local children in Eastern Washington with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. This year, the local chapter will grant about 100 wishes in Eastern Washington alone. According to a 2011 U.S. study of wish impact, most health professionals surveyed believe a wish-come-true can influence the health of children. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illnesses, and their parents say these experiences help strengthen the entire family.
