Tri-Cities Community Partners with Make-A-Wish® to Grant Local Girl's Wish

May 27, 2013

Tri Cities, WA

Six-year-old Miette from West-Richland was born on the 4th of July and is still a firecracker. This tenacious girl is battling Ewing’s Sarcoma, and wished for her family’s Airstream trailer to be restored, so she can spend less time in the hospital and more time traveling with them.

Sunday, June 2: 3 to 5p.m.
Barracuda Coffee Company
(2171 Van Giesen St, Richland, WA 99354)

3 p.m. Miette arrives at Barracuda Coffee via a surprise Corvette caravan!

3 – 4:30 p.m. Miette, who has always wanted to be a barista with her dad, will be making lattes free of charge for special guests after Barracuda Coffee Company opens its doors just for Miette and her special guests.

While Miette serves up coffee, a semi-truck courtesy of Blue Bunny Ice Cream will be hiding her fully-renovated 1972 Airstream trailer in the parking lot.

4:30 p.m. Miette goes outside to find a cheering crowd chanting ‘move that truck!’ The truck pulls away to reveal Miette’s trailer!

4:30 – 5 p.m. Miette celebrates with friends and family. Live music, donuts, and ice cream courtesy Blue Bunny Ice Cream, will be provided.

For media interested in Miette’s wish, please contact Angela Geiss (prior to June 2: 509-456-5627. Day of wish: 509-951-4303).

About Make-A-Wish Washington

Since our inception, Make-A-Wish Washington has granted nearly 900 wishes to local children in Eastern Washington with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. This year, the local chapter will grant about 120 wishes in Eastern Washington alone. According to a 2011 U.S. study of wish impact, most health professionals surveyed believe a wish-come-true can influence the health of children. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illnesses, and their parents say these experiences help strengthen the entire family.
