Future Gift Policy

Make-A-Wish® Alaska and Washington is a carefully managed organization with a deferred gift policy designed to help us meet our current and long-term needs. Unless you direct otherwise, we will apply our policy as follows:

If your gift through your will is under $100,000
Fifty percent is made available for immediate use, all dedicated to cash wish expense. The other 50 percent goes into the Wishing Well.

If your gift through your will is more than $100,000
A maximum of $50,000 is made available for wish granting purposes and the remainder goes into the Wishing Well.

People who support Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington may wish to make a current or future gift to our chapter’s Wishing Well reserve fund, or establish a permanent endowment to benefit our chapter through Make-A-Wish® America. Either option will meet your goal to provide a continuing source of income to support the important, life-affirming work we do.

Your gift to the Wishing Well or Wishes ForeverSM endowment fund can showcase your passion and interests, and provide a lasting testament to your values. You can also use your generosity to teach the next generation the importance of philanthropy by involving your family in the giving and wish-granting process. We would be happy to discuss these opportunities with you.

Wishing Well reserve fund

The Wishing Well is a reserve fund established by the Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington Board of Trustees. This fund is committed by board resolution to long-term use to support our mission to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

A named fund to recognize your family or company or honor a loved one can be established for a contribution of $50,000 or more—for example, the Jane and John Smith I Wish to Be Fund.

Wishes ForeverSM Endowment

You may choose a permanent endowment option through the Wishes ForeverSM endowment at Make-A-Wish America and name the Alaska and Washington chapter as beneficiary. Current or future gifts are welcomed. The ongoing revenue these funds generate will provide continuing resources to reach more eligible children and grant more wishes in Alaska and Washington.

For a minimum gift of $150,000, you can create a named, permanent endowment fund. Your named fund can showcase your passion and interests, and provide a lasting testament to your values. Stewardship of each fund established in the Wishes ForeverSM endowment will be personal and distinct. You will receive annual financial reports, both in print and through a donor stewardship website designed exclusively for Make-A-Wish America. Through the website, you will have access to stories and pictures from the wishes your endowment fund grants each year. You will also be able to share those stories with family and friends.
