Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington Announces New Hire

March 17, 2017

Seattle, WA

Make-A-Wish® Alaska and Washington, the local nonprofit organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions, has hired Jessica Quijada as a new part-time events coordinator.

In this position, Quijada provides support for Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington events like the President’s Lunch, Brunch with Santa, and most recently, Wish Night Gala & Auction. She is involved with tracking event RSVPs, communicating with guests, and assisting with event logistics.

Quijada’s depth of marketing and planning experience, as well as her passion for working in the non-profit sector, is what brought her to the local Make-A-Wish chapter. She is motivated by her desire to have every eligible child in our region get his or her wish granted. Quijada also currently works as a marketing and publishing coordinator for Seattle non-profit, ARCADE magazine. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in advertising from Northern Arizona University and currently resides in Seattle with her family.

About Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington

Since 1986, Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington has granted wishes to more than 6,300 local children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. From granting six wishes in our first year to now 332 this year, we have come a long way but our work is not over yet. With your help, we’re getting closer to reaching our vision to grant a wish to every eligible child by 2020, because we know that wishes matter. According to a 2011 study of wish impact, most health professionals surveyed believe a wish-come-true can influence the health of children. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illnesses, and their parents say these experiences help strengthen the entire family. Every year, one in five seriously-ill children in Alaska and Washington does not receive a wish because they are not being referred to our program. That’s something we can all change.
